The Suffolk SUP Technical and Sprint race will be the 4th event in the UK SUP 2017 race series.
Suffolk SUP were the first in the UK to run the SUPER LAP concept and it was a huge success. We are looking forward to another exciting day of racing on the water in the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
The venue has excellent parking and facilities with great views for spectators of all parts of the course. Camping will be available for vans and there will be food, demo equipment and sprint races. Alton Water is only 1 hour from the M25 with easy links from the South via A12 and the Midlands via the A14.
The SUPER LAP distance will be between 6-8 km and will be finalised during the briefing on the day. It will consist of 4 – 6 laps with all paddlers completing a full lap to start.
Depending on the weather it will be a seated (in water) or run in start from the shore and each category will start at 10 min (to be confirmed) intervals.
After the first full lap paddlers can then at any time, including the last lap, deploy their SUPER LAP which cuts out part of the course dramatically changing the race positions and adding to the excitement!
Sprint races in the afternoon; both the superlap and sprint races count towards points.
There will also be the final of the RED Paddle Junior Races happening and these can be entered on the day.
